Linux on old and new machines

Android is based on a version of Linux written by Google
It is always nice to know that a particular machine can run Linux before installing and it is well worth Googling your machine first to see what works. But frankly I never bother. Stick to Ubuntu/Mint/Lubuntu/Trisquel and this is what you could end up with.

My Home PC built in 2008.

It triple boots between Lubuntu 16.04 64 bit, Windows 10 64 bit, Windows Vista 32 bit (as a developer its useful to see how web pages look in older browsers). The cpu is AMD Athlon 64 P4200+, I run 3 hard drives 500Gb, and two 160Gb ones. All my hardware works 100% including HP Printer/scanner, webcam, Wifi USB sticks (£3 off ebay), specialist sound card with SPDIF inputs and outputs for 5.1 surround sound to my HiFi seperates (£9 on ebay), dual sound with my desktop speakers and sub.

Sarcasm is strong in the Linux community. Tux the penguin.

2002 Compaq Presario 1500 laptop rescued from Windows XP,
unning Lubuntu 16.04 32 bit just fine thanks!

Linux obsession. Who me? All the above run Linux in either
native, virtual or enbedded mode.
